Don’t forget the community
The recent “a discordant note” article on moving the Friday night concerts to weekend afternoons should be titled “Warwick Whines…”
This most recent round of bullying resulted in a survey where the mayor stated “Great information that we need to really think about so restaurants will not be adversely affected” and he rightly summed up “Once a month, is that going to decimate someone’s business? I don’t think so.”
This is a community, not a shopping zone. Those that attend the concerts with their kids are not going to the bars afterwards. These concerts are a safe place for kids to run around, meet friends and cool off.
Restaurants should embrace the influx of some 400 people as an opportunity not a threat.
Offer a discount for those attending the concerts. Make your restaurant a destination “Concert and a cocktail” or “Blues…then beers.”
Publish the names of the restaurants being damaged by music and the park and we will do our best to stop by more often.
These concerts are what make this village charming and I hope the board members remember that “by making it less optimal” for the community you forget who you serve.
Supporting our businesses is critical but this is just music in a park - not a “concerted” effort to take away someone’s living.
