Come celebrate with us at 3 Pines Nature Place
Come celebrate our first two years at 3 Pines Nature Place as it has gone from an intriguing idea to a stone, sand and wood reality.
Please join us for a late afternoon stroll on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. through the Nature Place on Wednesday, while enjoying refreshing treats just picked from 3 Pine’s neighbor, the Community Garden. After this quick tour we will head into the Warwick Valley Community Center for a quick review of where 3 Pines came from and more importantly, where we are going. This event will be held rain or shine.
A few highlights of the 3 Pines presentation:
• We worked this year with 15 students from the OCCC Architectural Design 2 Class at the Rowley Center for Science & Engineering to imagine different features at 3 Pines, based on the study of animal habitats. The results are creative, provocative and fun. See for yourself! We’ll present a power point of the project and have Ms. Pamela Rice-Woytowick, Associate Professor of Architecture, to answer any questions.
We want to find ways to make some of these ideas into physical features at 3 Pines.
• We have just been awarded a Placemaking Recognition Grant from Orange County Citizens Foundation and we are looking for ways to share and seed what we have learned about community-building through nature play with other towns and villages.
• Opportunities for partnerships with Warwick Valley Middle School and High School Architectural Design Departments.
Watching children learn through Nature Play is extraordinary to witness. There are deep connections between nature play and the physical, social and emotional development of children and youth.
Throughout the last year we have hosted several nature programs, mothers’ play groups and home-schoolers. These parents know that a child who plays in nature has an endless amount of benefits.
Are you an organizer, gardener, painter, business person, teacher, nature educator, photographer, muralist, poet, musician, investor, tinkerer, engineer, plumber, mechanic, retired person or president to a company who wants to get involved in a worthwhile community project?
Do you see yourself sponsoring a 3 Pines feature or just giving a small donation?
Whatever or wherever you see yourself, we want to hear from you, We hope you will come out, learn more and support this worthy endeavor.
Many blessings,
Sharlene Miller-Pizza
