Closing Kings

| 17 Apr 2013 | 03:53

The Record reported a 6 to 3 vote on the Board of Ed concerning the closing of Kings.

Who are the three and why? Is it:

    • They preferred to close Park Avenue? or

    • They wanted to close both Park and Kings? or

    • They like under utilized and over staffed facilities and wasting millions? or

    • They are the three who are up for re-election in 2013 and thought this was a way to get more votes and thereby preserve the generous health care benefits provided gratis by the taxpayers of Warwick (for a very part-time job)?

It was further reported that the superintendent stated that they would probably have to close Park next year. Why not close it now? It would save millions and be less disruptive to the students. There is certainly room in the excess spaces in the Middle School and High School building for such a consolidation.

Why always a Band-Aid and no thoughtful solution?

For responsible action it comes down to the board and their duty to serve the public rather than themselves.
