‘Call to action’

| 24 Jun 2013 | 04:47

Inspired by “A Soldier’s View of Memorial Day” written by Major Jamie Leonard from Warwick who was tragically killed in Afghanistan earlier this month, I’ve decided to help my friend Sheryl Thomas organize the best chapter of Oath Keepers in the entire country right here in Orange County.

In Major Leonard’s piece, she talked about the importance of knowing our rights and our duties as citizens. Oath Keepers is a national organization of active and retired military, law enforcement and firefighters who are committed to educating their fellow citizens on the founding document that so many, including Jamie, have given their lives to defend.

I am an “associate member,” never having served in uniform.

We meet every second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Chester Senior Center. To learn more, visit www.oathkeepers.org or call Sheryl Thomas at 845-800-6601.
