AnnMarie Scotti announces candidacy for Florida Board of Education
Hello, my name is AnnMarie Scotti. I have decided to run for one of the open seats on the Florida School Board. I have always felt that children are society’s most important natural resource, and therefore, I have always been passionate about doing right by our children—all children, not just my own. All children deserve the very best that we can give them as our means allow while being fiscally prudent.
My husband Giovanni and I have been married for 19 years and we have two wonderful boys, one of whom will be graduating this June. I have been a district resident for 18 years.
My friends and family tell me that I am efficient and driven - and I guess that is a pretty accurate statement. I believe that when something is important enough, we need to make the time. I feel that I should do the greatest amount of good that I can for people with the time that I have.
In addition to being a parent, I currently work as coordinator of pre-school services and as billing coordinator for Pediatric O.T. as well as billing coordinator for all early-intervention and pre-school services for SJ and Assoc. Previously, I worked at FUFSD in accounts payable as an account clerk and extra-classroom activity treasurer. All of these jobs require close attention to detail with regard to numbers, which is one of my strengths.
Besides my paid work, I have always been an enthusiastic volunteer. At Golden Hill, I was heavily involved with the PTA for eight years, working with the kids at Field Day and at many other family events so the kids could have the most positive learning experience possible while at the elementary school. At Seward, I continued to serve on the Seward PTSA, working for three years organizing 8th grade graduation, helping with Tricky Tray, assisting with the Teacher Appreciation luncheon, and co-advising for the Class of 2019. For two years I served on the District Advisory Team.
Outside the school community, I’ve volunteered my time at the Autism Move-a-Thon for 9 years, as a CCD teacher at St. Stephen’s for seven years, and as a Hospice worker at the Kaplan Center in Newburgh for the past year, both at the center and making home visits as needed.
As a school board member, I will bring my passion to help our district continuously improve, building on the foundation created by the countless people before me. I know that my drive, my background with accounting and preparing budgets, and my being an advocate of all - stakeholders who are adults and those who are children- will make me an effective board member.
I am dedicated to making our district the very best place it can be.
Please come out and support me: Vote Scotti on May 21.
