An important day for great leadership
Warwick is fortunate in so many ways, and one of them is the leadership on both the town and village levels.
One of the dangers, however, with great leadership is that people, including me, start taking it for granted.
I was amazed to learn just by chance this weekend that the mayoral election in Warwick is slated for March 18th. It is precisely because Michael Newhard is so well regarded that he is running unopposed, and because he’s unopposed, there has been virtually no official notice - no press coverage, no letters to the editor, nothing.
And as a result, the turnout could be very low … and that shouldn’t happen.
As a member of Sustainable Warwick, I have had the opportunity to see up close how good governance works in a village like ours and my guess is that the vast majority of village residents understand that as a village, we’re in really good shape.
Now that I have woken up and realize that the election is upon us — less than a week now — I want to urge everyone in the Village to find the time on Tuesday, March 18th, to cast your vote and say that you appreciate the good job Michael Newhard is doing.
