‘A rewarding experience’

We were so happy to be able to take advantage of the beautiful Chester Commons Park for this year’s Girl Scout Camporee on May 10 and 11. More than 100 girls participated in the “Survivor”-themed event which included first aid, raft building and box oven cooking.
Several dozen managed to survive the night through pouring rain.
The program couldn’t have happened without the cooperation of the Chester Park and Recreation Department. Their hospitality was outstanding.
We are also extremely grateful to the Sugar Loaf Fire Department volunteers who came to teach the girls about fire safety as well as manage and protect the bonfire we had for marshmallow roasting.
It’s always a rewarding experience for adults and girls when they can get out into their communities and enjoy the natural beauty that our area is famous for.
