A less than full plate
Congratulations to St. Stephen’s for another successful Taste of the Town event.
The Taste of the Town is a fun, well-organized event with live music, entertainment for children and, most of all, great food.
The Taste of the Town gives the local restaurants an opportunity to promote and showcase their food to a large crowd while at the same time supporting the local Warwick community.
Unfortunately, many of the Warwick restaurants chose not to participate this year.
While restaurants from Middletown, Monroe and Slate Hill chose to participate and support our local community, conspicuous by their absence were virtually all of the Main Street restaurants.
Given that the Warwick Merchant’s Guild asks that our community support the Warwick businesses, I was surprised by the lack of support these restaurants gave to a successful community event.
My family and I frequent most of these restaurants and I cannot understand why they wouldn’t participate. They offer a variety of great food and are provided an opportunity by the Taste of the Town to promote their dishes.
The Taste of the Town is aptly named because it gives people from all over an opportunity to do just that - get a taste of the best Warwick has to offer.
Hopefully, next year these restaurants will reconsider and make a great event even better.
And to those local establishments that did participate - such as Pennings, The Blarney Station, Noble Pie’s and Halligan’s, thank you. Your participation is greatly appreciated and was an asset to the Taste of the Town.
