A day that took on a special meaning

December 16, 2017, was not just a Saturday in the month of December, but a day that Americans proved what they are made of.
A wreath laying ceremony took place at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen as well as many other locations across the United States.
I was privileged to be there in Goshen and witness the event. It was truly an outpouring of human expression that demonstrated many persons' true emotions. Tears were shed and many a salute was given.
I spoke to some of the family members of the veterans and family interred there. Many had travelled some distance for this event.
More than 3,000 wreaths were set in place by a team of several hundred exuberant men, women and children In a matter of minutes. Various groups were instrumental in the tidying up after the ceremony.
Dave Andryshak, the organizer of the event, could be found everywhere during all phases of the day. Dave and his staff at the Veterans Cemetery are the reason that it is a showplace that Orange County has reason to be proud of.
