Let us be self-sustaining
To the editor: Seymour Gordon’s letter about Warwick’s open space initiative encouraging the banking of enough agricultural land for our community to be self-sustaining should the need arise really resonated with me. I just bought the only frozen asparagus I could find at the A&P and when I got home and found it tough and tasteless, I discovered it was imported from China. How easy it will be for our enemies to bring us to our knees when we can no longer feed ourselves. Setting land aside now for our growing community is a sensible solution, and the Community Preservation Fund will provide the needed dollars. For all of us here in Warwick now and for generations to come, I encourage you to vote yes on Nov. 7 for the Community Preservation Fund. Harriet L. Earnest Warwick
