It's all about taxes

To the editor: I would like to set the record straight; I’m a realtor, I also commute to my full-time job in the Bronx every day and I have held three elected offices in our community. I know all the players, I keep up with the issues, and I’m a taxpayer. As a taxpayer I can tell you without a doubt that the Real Estate Transfer Tax is a prelude to the self-interest groups desire to extend the PDR Tax when it comes time to renew it in approximately five years. Then we will all be taxed again. The Real Estate Transfer Tax is a non-essential, discriminatory tax that will further disenfranchise the hard working middle class from affording a home in Warwick. The architects of this tax are basing their revenues on a high real estate market that has since declined. Voting yes on this proposition will only open Pandora’s Box to further taxes. Please research this issue and then join me in sending a clear no message to our town and self-interest group. Remember: it’s all about our taxes. Anthony Portelli Warwick
