Historical Society thanks Pine Island fifth graders

To the editor: The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick would like to thank the fifth graders of Pine Island Elementary School for their generous contribution of $50. We received along with the gift a letter from the Principal of Pine Island elementary School, Jane Hamburger, stating: “Enclosed please find one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received in my sixteen years as Principal of Pine Island Elementary School. My fifth graders gave me this contribution because they knew how much the history of Warwick has meant to us all.” As many of your readers know, each year the Warwick Historical Society provides a tour of its historical buildings and collections for Warwick schools’ fourth graders. The Fourth-Grade Tour will happen this year on Oct. 4 and 5. We will use this donation to help toward the expenses of this program, which will include a discussion of Pine Island history.
