Hats off to Morahan and Rabbitt for library funding

To the Editor: I would like to thank our state representatives, both Senator Thomas Morahan and Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, as well as Governor George Pataki, for their support of increased funding for public libraries. The $20 million increase in funding in the 2006-2007 New York State budget for public libraries is long over due, and is the largest increase in library aid ever. The increase includes $14 million in construction and renovation aid for public libraries. This is tremendous news for all of New York State, but especially important for Warwick at this point in our library building project. Add to this increase in state aid the over $85,000 of state funds that both Senator Morahan and Assemblywoman Rabbitt have secured for our library in the last few years, we are truly lucky to have such strong champions in the state working for Warwick.
