Fragile as butterflies

To the editor: One day a man and his daughter went to a museum. The little girl ran up to a wire cage. “How beautiful, Daddy. What is that?” “That’s a butterfly, baby,” the father said. “They used to fly everywhere when I was a kid.” Warwick is blessed with butterflies. And fireflies and fresh air and farm stands. In a world of highways and sprawl, we have a quality in our everyday lives here that is precious. But, as butterflies are, it is also very fragile. Isn’t it our job as a community to protect it? I’m too young to vote, but I’m old enough to appreciate how special our town is. Protecting what we have for future generations is the right thing to do. In November, please vote yes for the Community Preservation Act. Please, don’t let those butterflies disappear! Sincerely, Anne D. Pennington Warwick
