Cross country captains named StudentnAthletes of the Week

    Warwick - Warwick Valley High School and Allstate Insurance Bill Garcia Agency of Warwick have announced that Danny Prial and Brad Ackerman as this week’s Warwick StudentnAthletes of the Week. The senior concaptains are a driving force in Warwick’s Cross Country success leading the team to a 20n0 dual meet record and first-place finishes in the Wave and Edgewater Invitationals. The team is ranked first in the state and 16th nationally. Danny Prial is the son of Anne and Greg Prial of Warwick. He competes for the boys XC team, Indoor Track Team and Outdoor Track Team. His 97.2 average ranks him in the top 10 percent of his class and includes challenging courses such as AP Calculus and AP Biology (for college credit). Danny is a member of the National Honor Society and has made the high honor roll 12 consecutive quarters. He names Mr. Gene Burns (Social Studies Department) as his most inspiring academic teacher. Danny has received a letter of assurance from the United States Military Academy at West Point and plans to study engineering in college. Danny has a brother Terence who attends Columbia and three sisters Becky (Class of 2004), Brigid (5th grade) and Jennifer (3rd grade). Brad Ackerman is the son of Richard and Karen Ackerman of Warwick. Brad competes for the boys Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track Teams. He is a high honor roll student with a grade point average of 92.8. He has been named to the high honor roll 12 consecutive quarters and takes a course load of challenging advanced courses. Brad is currently Warwick’s top boys’ XC runner finishing first in most of the dual meets and the Lions 5K run (scholastic division). Brad will continue to run in college. Cornell, Syracuse and Villanova have expressed interest in Brad and he plans to apply in the near future. Brad names Mr. Brian Nelson of the Social Studies department as his most inspiring academic teacher. He has three sisters Kara (attends Fairfield University), Kendra (3rd grade) and Kailyn (3 years old).
