Chamber endorses new library building
To the editor: At their meeting on Feb. 2, the Board of Directors of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce endorsed the proposal to build a new library building in Warwick. A new, modern 21st century library will enrich the lives of all our residents while serving the needs of the business community as well. The future of the library project hinges on a successful referendum on Thursday, March 8. The Chamber Board urges all Library district voters to cast a “yes” vote that day. There is widespread recognition that the current library built in 1927 has long outgrown its current space. The Library Board and staff have worked diligently to ensure that the plans for the new library reflect the needs of the community for now and years to come. The new library will feature comfortable, quiet reading areas as well as space for group study, library programs and public meetings. New information technology will enable library staff and the community to connect to the information on the Web as well as unique information available from the library through their content databases. Many of these resources are particularly useful to business. Although the library offers valuable information services for the business community at little to no cost, the current physical plant precludes local businesses from taking advantage of this resource. The library should be a readily accessible business tool. A vote for the library is a vote for Warwick. Polls open at 7 a.m. on March 8 and close at 9 p.m. Robert Krahulik, president Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce
