Being proactive on road repairs

To the editor: I commend the K. of C. and all other organizations (Boy/Girl Scouts, fire departments, church groups, etc.) for their tireless efforts to keep our roads clean. As a Warwick resident, I, like many others, pay taxes that should cover the cost for the DPW to do their jobs. If organizations are out there cleaning up roads, what is the DPW doing? We have had potholes on Hawthorne Drive (opposite #6) and Gordon Terrace (opposite #2) for more than five months, yet I see DPW trucks coming and going. Do these drivers drive with their eyes closed? You would think that if a DPW worker spots a deficiency in the infrastructure, he would report it his superiors and implement repairs instead of waiting for taxpayers to tell them where and what to repair. Let’s get with the program DPW or do we wait until someone gets hurt and takes legal action? You should work on being proactive instead of reactive. I don’t mind paying taxes if I get what I pay for. I wish I could volunteer, but while working two jobs to be able to live here (better quality of life), this is not possible. Frustrated in Warwick, Denis L Belokostolsky Warwick
