Be warned

To the editor: Property owners who have O&R lines bordering or running through your land, this message is for you. If you get notice that the tree cutters are coming to clear the wires, be sure to make your self available to monitor their activities. I for one did not receive notice. I acknowledge this is a necessary activity and in the past I monitored what was removed. Living here for 14 years there has never been an outage due to trees on my property. This past week when I arrived home from work I was shocked to see what I had found. Every tree was indiscriminately toped, three to six feet that included evergreens, maple and others over a span of 125 feet length of my property. It was butchering at best, and even my call to complain did not stop them from returning to finish the last 75 feet the same as the first the very next day. I waited until this weekend to survey the damage for I really could not look at it, limbs cut and let to fall and they did not clear or remove a lot of what they amputated. What they cut they piled at the end of my property. I will be calling O&R on Monday to come and clean up their mess. I took pictures of all the destruction and as I was looking at the pictures it made me realize I had to tell this story and to warn others. There was no need to destroy to the degree to which they did. We all know this is a necessary evil but this was total disregard and lack of respect for personal property. My closing thought; Eminent Domain and the new power structure they want to build from Albany which will come through Orange County, someone’s personal property, to supply power to NYC.
