Angels on Main Street

An open love letter to the people of Warwick: On any given day, on any corner of Main Street, you will see me. I will be waiting for someone to come by and cross me over the street. You all know who you are. I don’t know your names and you probably don’t know mine. Some of you are “repeat” helpers, like the lovely girl in the cleaners shop on South and Main, the man from the Hallmark Card Store, the Bookstore, the library and so forth. I have met several people who turned out to be neighbors of mine; I even met the mayor this way. There have been angels of every color and age group. You have all been on your way someplace and took the time to stop and help me. I am so grateful. I have been legally blind for years. It was suggested that I carry a white cane since I was struck by a car over a year ago; I have never felt safe, except on the arm of another person. I would love to thank all of you and tell you that I pray for you all. I hope you read this letter and know you have my thanks forever. Mary Gagliano Warwick
