And a splendid time was had by all
To the editor: On Friday evening, June 2, the PTA-sponsored eighth grade formal dance provided a night of fun-filled entertainment for more than 300 students at the Warwick Valley Middle School. Using the theme, “New York, New York,” the cafeteria was transformed into a magical, shimmering city scene complete with the G.W. Bridge, Chinatown, Little Italy and Central Park. Judging from the flushed but happy faces and feet that never stopped dancing, a terrific time was enjoyed by all. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many parent volunteers whose time, talent and enthusiastic energy helped make the dance a wonderful success (including the tool-toting dads who showed up that afternoon and handled the heavy-duty decorations with ease). Special thanks to Warwick General Rental, who donated several items at no cost; Pennings Farm Market, who graciously lent a lush variety of plants and flowers; the Demarest Building, for use of their potted trees; and Rick Williams of Crystal Pools, who generously donated not only his time to construct decorations on site, but lent us his crew as well and did so with a smile! We would also like to thank DJ’s Seth and Sean from Blazin Beats Entertainment for playing just the right music to keep the dance upbeat and enjoyable for everyone in attendance. As the last song played said, “I’ve had the time of my life and I owe it all to you.” Jane Spiegel and Laurie Unick 8th Grade Formal Dance Co-Chairs
