Against the school plan
To the editor: There is not extra space in Warwick Valley High School. My son is in an honors history class with more than 30 students. There aren’t enough desks for all the students and the teacher is overloaded. Mr. Mita is doing an excellent job teaching this class; however, is this fair to him or to the students? My total tax bill was $8,500 10 years ago when I purchased my house; that total in 2006 was $19,237 of which $12,384 was my school tax bill. Please do not listen when you are told this “tuitioning plan” is going to keep taxes down, definitely not raise them and it will be good for Warwick and Greenwood Lake. If this plan is approved, within five years we will be told there is not enough room in our schools and we need to build a new one or at the least another costly addition. Mr. DeBuck, as a town councilman, please work toward seeking ratables for Warwick. We need ratables, not more students. Dr. Greenhall, as our superintendent, you are not doing what is best for our school district. This is short-sighted leadership. Once again to all, please vote. Educate yourself and vote!
