A veteran on Veterans Day
To the editor: Veterans Day, as its name implies, is about and for veterans. Veterans don’t ask for much recognition, although they deserve some. They don’t brag about defending their country, although they defended it for all. Veterans don’t get many benefits, although many were wounded in battle. Today is a day they should be honored, but it they aren’t, they won’t complain. They usually don’t talk about war, although they know about it. There were some who were hardly more than children who gave the ultimate sacrifice. We who remain should be proud of what our service men did and what they are doing now. Americans should not spend more time on Veterans Day sales events than on veterans services. We should honor our service men and women and our country and not tolerate a single opinion from so-called liberal judges that run the laws of the land, such as our country’s long-standing flag laws and our prayers in public places of congregations and schools. “Patriots,” wake up and demand that our beloved country be run, not in turmoil, but by the way our forefathers founded it, under God’s laws, not false laws. If anyone is unhappy with our right to choose, right from wrong and our freedoms, then let them leave this wonderful country. Veterans died for that right. Are we going to throw away our freedom to choose, under the guise of political correctness? This is the opinion of the American Legion Post Commander #214. Robert Ritzer Warwick
