Youth bureau sponsors ‘No Challenge Too Great' on Oct. 8

    Middletown —Youths, ages 13-18, from Orange County are invited to attend ‘No Challenge Too Great: Teens Enhancing Potential and Community’ Conference on Oct. 8, at SUNY Orange. The skill-building event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendance is free, but there is limited space. Youth are encouraged to come with their youth group advisor, a parent, or other important adult. Michele McKeon, executive director of Safe Homes of Orange County, will be the keynote speaker. Skill-based workshops include topics such as violence and bullying prevention, peer leadership and communication, smoking and peer resistance, and job readiness. This youth conference is sponsored by the Orange County Youth Bureau’s ACT for Youth Initiative. The initiative seeks to increase opportunities and supports for young people, increase youth engagement and youth voice, and promote organizational and community policy changes reflecting positive youth development principals.
