Greenwood Lake — Greenwood Lake resident Vincent Corrado announces that he is collecting back-to-school supplies now through Sunday, Aug. 28, for underprivileged children of Greenwood Lake as part of his annual outreach project, “Back-to-School Basics.” Donated supplies may be dropped off at the Greenwood Lake Public Library during regular operating hours. All donated items will be delivered to the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry on Aug. 29 for the beginning of the new school year. Suggested items for donation are: loose leaf paper, pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, one-, two-, three-, and five-subject notebooks, book bags, tape, book covers, marble composition notebooks, dictionaries, pocket folders, scissors, hand-operated pencil sharpeners, staplers, staples, report covers, binders, binder subject separators, etc. Corrado, 18, began this project in 2008 as his Confirmation outreach project. He collected an abundance of supplies that year, which helped so many children, that he decided to run the campaign annually, as school supplies are essential to a child’s educational success. Since 2008, the generosity of the local community has enabled children in need to attend school with the proper supplies, thus ensuring that these children would have the opportunity to succeed.
