    Children’s immunization clinics are July 19 GOSHEN — The Orange County Health Department will hold immunization clinics, by appointment only, on Tuesday, July 19. Locations will be in Newburgh, at 141 Broadway, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.; and in Goshen at 124 Main St. from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. This clinic is only for uninsured children between the ages of two months and 18 years of age who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Records of previous immunizations must be presented. Insured children should be seen by their primary physician for immunizations. Call 291-2330 to learn more. Hudson Valley Miss and Teen contestant deadline coming up White plains — Who will be the young women to represent the Hudson Valley region at the 2012 Miss New York USA and Miss New York Teen USA state pageants in January? Preliminary pageant competitions will be held on Sept. 4, at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in White Plains, in swimsuit, evening gown, personal interview and on-stage question. Finalists will be eligible to compete for the titles of Miss New York USA 2012 and Miss New York Teen USA 2012. The $550 entry fee and application deadline is July 31. The pageants are open to those between the ages of 14 to 18 in the Teen Division and ages 19 to 26 in the Miss Division, to residents or full-time students attending school in New York State. Participants will receive training in public speaking, interview techniques, marketing and business etiquette from industry professionals. Palisades Park offers nature day camp Alpine, N.J. — The New Jersey Section of the Palisades Interstate Park will offer a nature day camp for children ages 8 to 12, beginning Monday, Aug. 22. Led by the park’s trail crew, the camp will run for five consecutive days from Aug. 22 to 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will meet at the historic Kearney House at the Alpine Boat Basin and Picnic Area (accessible from PIP Exit 2). During the week, campers will experience the many features of the New Jersey Palisades through a series of games, hikes, and activities. Participants will learn outdoor survival skills, seine the Hudson River, take a day hike, explore the hidden nooks of the Palisades, and join the trail crew for a family campfire on the last evening. This program emphasizes hands-on activities. Children should wear sturdy footwear, clothing suitable for outdoor activities, and bring their own lunches and water bottles. In case of rain, activities will be held in the Alpine Pavilion. The cost for the program is $150 per child. Children must be dropped off and picked up at the Alpine Boat Basin and Picnic Area. Registration underway for driver ed lottery WARWICK — During the fall semester, driver education will be offered by an independent driving school at Warwick Valley High School. The cost to each student is $350. Students will be chosen by a lottery system with seniors and juniors having priority. Sophomores will be eligible if spaces are available after all seniors and juniors have been assigned their scheduled times. Participating students will attend sessions totaling three hours per week- 1.5 hours each in the classroom and car. Driving sessions are also held on Saturday and Sunday. Any student who wishes to participate in the program must have their driver’s license or learner’s permit and must be 16 years of age on or before Sept. 1.
