WVT donates $10,000 to high school for cameras

Warwick WVT Communications has donated $10,000 to Warwick Valley High School to assist in the purchase new cameras and other equipment for the school’s Communications Department. Duane Albro, president and chief executive officer of WVT Communications made the presentation last Friday, June 1, to Warwick School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Greenhall. State Sen. Thomas Morahan also has told Albro and Greenhall that he will look to obtain matching funds from the state. “We’re doing this because of what Dr. Greenhall and his staff are doing,” said Albro. “They have a vision and our company has a vision. We give for a purpose.” During his visit to the school’s Communications Department’s television studio, Albro also invited students in that program to take advantage of his firm’s local access programming channel. “You can have all the time you need,” he said. The communications classes, under the direction of Pat Dool, offers students an opportunity to practice their skills including production, direction, camera, lighting and set design in a professional television studio. Greenhall praised WVT Communications, formerly known as the Warwick Valley Telephone Co., for the contribution and the company’s commitment to the community. He promised that the funds would be put to good use in purchasing much needed equipment. “This will help us to get more done while leaving the taxpayers alone,” he said.
