WVT Communications joins Cell Phones for Soldiers program
Warwick - WVT Communications has joined the Cell Phones for Soldiers program as an official cell phone collection center. The drop-off point is a box in the lobby of WVT’s 47 Main St., Warwick location. Cell phones may be dropped off at this address during normal business hours. Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization started by two Norwell, Mass., teenagers to help buy pre-paid calling cards to send to service people serving overseas. Donated cell phones are recycled and the proceeds are used to buy calling cards. Since its inception in April 2004, Cell Phones for Soldiers has raised close to $1 million and has sent more than 75,000 pre-paid calling cards to men and women in the armed services. In addition to calling cards, Cell Phones for Soldiers is now sending video phones to units in the Middle East and to their home base as well, so families are able to see each other as they talk. The phone and service are provided free to service people and their families. The program will accept any model or make phone. You may drop off phones and attached batteries as well as phone accessories. Please visit www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com for more information.
