Donation to help purchase equipment for new information technology center WARWICK — On Wednesday, July 18, Duane Albro, president and CEO of WVT Communications, presented his company’s check for $10,000 to Leah Cerkvenik, executive vice president/ administrator of St. Anthony Community Hospital, which will be used to purchase new computers and furniture for the soon-to-be-opened Information Technology Training Center. As part of its modernization and expansion, St. Anthony Community Hospital already has doubled the size of its emergency department and is continuing important upgrades to its facility. One particular portion of this project is renovating the fourth floor space, formerly used for outpatient services, for the Med/Surg in patient care unit and for an Information Technology Training Center. Albro said that when he recently accepted his position as head of WVT Communications, he began seeking out people and organizations that are actively trying to grow and develop the Warwick community. His desire, he said, was to collaborate with and support these people and organizations such as St. Anthony Community Hospital. Albro added that WVT plans to reinvigorate its past successes and innovations while continuing to support the community it serves. “Warwick Valley Telephone Company has always had strong community ties and a rich history of providing innovative offerings to its customers,” said Albro. “The same is true of St. Anthony Community Hospital and therefore, it makes perfect sense to me that we support it.” This is the company’s second donation this month. On July 2, WVT Communications donated $10,000 to the Orange County Partnership, money that will be used to market the county to prospective businesses. “The new Information Technology Training Center will be open to hospital employees from all departments.
