WVHS graduate Kelly Johnson receives academic excellence award at University of Scranton

SCRANTON, PA. - Kelly Rose Johnson Chester was among the 68 students honored by the University of Scranton during its undergraduate Class Night ceremony. The Jesuit university awarded outstanding members of the Class of 2011 for academic achievement and service. Johnson was the recipient of the Excellence in Women’s Studies Award. She received a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, in women’s studies and biology. Johnson participated in the Honors Program. She was vice president for Alpha Epsilon Delta and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. She was involved with the Health Professions Organization, Biology Club and Fair Trade Club. Johnson has volunteered at the Women’s Center and the Leahy Center and was a participant in the Scranton Temple Residency Program Primary Care Externship. Johnson plans to earn a master’s degree in public health. She will also apply to medical school to pursue a degree in global public health. She graduated from Warwick Valley High School.
