WARWICK - Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt presented Warwick Radio WTBQ (1110 AM) earlier this week with an official New York State Assembly proclamation honoring the station for outstanding journalism and commitment to public service by delivering information and news to the people of Orange County. Rabbitt (R,I,C-Greenwood Lake) was joined by station manager Frank Truatt, on-air personalities Uncle Buck and Souzie Miller along with District Representative Brad Piggery from U.S. Rep. John Hall’s office and other radio staff during the ceremony on Monday, Dec. 17. “Local radio and television stations are the lifeblood of the communities they serve,” said Rabbitt. “We rely on them for important information that impacts our daily lives and we listen to them as they put community leaders in direct interaction with the public they serve. WTBQ has time and time again demonstrated an outstanding commitment to excellence in the fields of journalism and communications. This is why I came to their station today to offer them an Assembly proclamation commending them for their dedication and hard work on behalf of the communities which comprise their audience.” Rabbitt explained that WTBQ was in rare company because Assembly proclamations are not doled out freely. “They like to save on paper,” she quipped. Piggery also presented a certificate from the congressman’s office expressing similar sentiments to those in the Assembly proclamation. “This is a new beginning for us,” said Truatt, who welcomed the guests to the station’s new location on Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Warwick. “We hope to get bigger and better. And it’s a shame we even get paid because we have so much fun doing this.”
