Warwick - Warwick Women in Black celebrated New Year’s Day with a candlelight vigil for peace in downtown Warwick. “This is the fourth year we have stood here for peace and we would all like it to be the last,” said Donna Spector. Emily Boardman, one of the organizers, added: “We urge people to contact their Congress people at the start of the new Congressional session and ask them to push for war funding to be cut. Warwick’s share of the cost of the war is over 12 million dollars. Think what we could do with that kind of money in our village.” The next Warwick Women in Black vigil will be held Jan. 27, coinciding with a demonstration in Washington D.C. calling for an end to the war.
