Winslow Center gets $2,500 donation

Warwick - Kitchen and Bath Works of Warwick has donated $2,500 to Winslow Therapeutic Center to support horseback riding programs that help children and adults with special needs develop self-esteem and physical confidence. Winslow runs an award-winning hippotherapy program at its Warwick-based riding stables. “The reason I contribute to Winslow,” said Mechelle Casciotta,” is because I believe that Winslow Therapeutic Center is one of our community’s greatest assets. Also, as a small business owner in the community, I believe it is important to support worthy organizations.” Casciotta owns both Kitchen and Bath Works and Warwick Valley Appliances. Casciotta also just became a Silver Sponsor for the Winslow’s “Denim, Diamonds and Dreams” gala. The popular social event and major fundraiser will be held Oct. 20 at the Falkirk Farm in Central Valley, N.Y. In addition, she is walking in The Alison Klepper Ride/Walk-A-Thon on Sunday Sept. 16. Her goal is to raise $1,000 in sponsorships. The Alison Klepper Fund is designed to help children in need of therapeutic riding who would otherwise not be able to afford this type of service. Winslow, founded in 1974, is a not-for-profit hippotherapy and therapeutic riding center devoted to the special-needs population of Orange and surrounding counties. The center is located on 100 acres of scenic land just off Route 17A in Warwick, on land the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor donated in fall 1998.
