Wildcats stumble in opener

WARWICK - Quarterback Ryan Darcey's fourth and 10 pass for Evan Wyler fell incomplete as time ran out, and the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks opened the season with a 28-21 non-league win over the Warwick Wildcats. NFA jumped out to a 21-7 lead, but Warwick responded with 14 points in the fourth quarter. Matt Stranski scored from three yards out with 3:13 left in the quarter and Derek Hrinya broke off a 51-yard run off the right side to tie the game at 21. But a late NFA score would prove too much.
