Montgomery - At a time of increased competition for philanthropic dollars, Thomas Weddell, C.P.A., has taken on the challenge to serve as campaign chair of Orange County United Way’s 2006-2007 fundraising campaign. Weddell, the managing partner of the accounting and business development consulting firm of Vanacore, DeBenedictus, DiGovanni & Weddell, has a passion for winning that he developed as an athlete in his youth. “By successfully leading the Campaign for United Way, the community wins,” said Weddell. “We know that the citizens of Orange County have boundless compassion and immense giving capacity, after last year’s response to the local United Way Campaign for the tsunami, and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Our goal is to let citizens know how they can help local friends and neighbors by contributing to Orange County United Way.” Last year, Weddell was a member of the campaign cabinet, one of many volunteers who help raise funds. The primary objective of his new role as chair is to increase the financial and volunteer resources, and to build a solid foundation of support for Orange County United Way this coming year. He will oversee the development and implementation of campaign strategies, setting challenging goals, and the cultivation of new markets. For more information, call 457-4774 ext. 29.
