Wayne Rossi runs for Warwick library trustee position

All great colleges, towns, cities and countries have great libraries,’ doctor says Warwick Dr. Wayne Rossi has announced that he will seek election to the board of trustees of the Albert Wisner Public Library. The election will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at the library at 2 Colonial Ave., and all registered voters of the Warwick Valley School District are eligible to cast a ballot. Rossi is running unopposed for the one seat on the board up for election this year. Rossi was appointed last year to fill a vacancy created by the resignation by M. Lynn Pike. “Over the past year, I have learned so much about our library,” said Rossi. “Libraries are in a great transitional period in society, and I want to part of that transition.” Rossi has been a resident of the Warwick for 23 years. He is a chiropractor with a practice in Warwick, and is certified as a Chiropractic Sport Physician Practitioner. Rossi said he believes in the library’s role as a meeting place for all ages and as a location for continuing education. It should not be the last place to visit but the first, he said. According to Rossi the library services only the basic needs of the community currently due to its very limited size. That is why he said he sees a new, state-of-the-art library for Warwick as the most important short-term goal, and when the new library is complete, continuing education and a community gathering place as essential long-term goals. “All great colleges, towns, cities and countries have great libraries,” he added. Candidates for library trustee are elected to serve five-year terms of office. Residents of the Warwick Valley School District will vote for one library trustee and a proposed tax levy for support of the library. Residents must be registered to vote and can do so at the school district offices from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Absentee ballots may be applied for at the library.
