Warwick - Sanfordville Elementary School has been selected as one of ten schools to participate in the “Hudson River: Flowing Across the Curriculum” initiative, in concert with the release of a new half-hour public television program by Thirteen/WNET titled PLANET H2O. The fifth grade staff will build one or more learning activities (aligned to New York State standards), drawing on the video, which will feature the legendary Pete Seeger and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. These learning activities will become part of a comprehensive electronic “resource kit” made available to schools across the country. The staff members will also participate in a half-day sail on the Clearwater, followed by a picnic lunch with Seeger, members of the Clearwater staff, staff from Kunhardt productions and the education department at Thirteen/WNET. In addition to the sail, Sanfordville will receive a $500 award, copies of the new production, a DVD Teacher’s Guide for Thirteen’s new mini-series, and free passes to attend Thirteen’s Celebration of Teaching and Learning, a professional development conference, scheduled for March 23-24, 2007.
