Warwick's pajama program draws to an end on Aug. 31
Warwick Fall will be here before you know it. Time to break out the warmer clothes, including comfy pajamas. Let that be your reminder Warwick’s Pajama Program ends Aug. 31. In June, The Warwick Advertiser featured local day-care provider, Essra Paddock, and her quest to bring pajamas and books to foster kids and homeless kids in the area. Paddock saw an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that talked about the Pajama Program, a non-profit group that collects new pajamas and books for needy children. Founded in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro and Alice Pagano Quick, the group’s goal is to provide pajamas and books to kids who have nothing of their own. Paddock was touched by the show and decided to do something about it in her own backyard. She set up collection boxes in local stores , the Toy Chest, Clocktower Video, The Inkwell, the Tuscan Café and Leo Kaytes Ford and hoped the public would respond. The boxes are still there and Paddock is hopeful she will have many jammies and books to send to the organization. Anyone interested in getting more information on the Pajama Program can log on to the group’s Web site, www.pajamaprogram.org. Anyone wanting more information about Paddock’s efforts may e-mail her at shootingstarskids@yahoo.com. Or you can just drop off your jammies and books at a drop box in the village.
