Warwick town clerk
Marjorie Quackenbush, Republican candidate I was born and raised in Warwick and have at least fifth-generation roots to the community. My husband and I have been married for 30 years. Our 26-year-old son lives and works in the Boston area where he is a project manager for HB Communications. I graduated from Orange County Community College, earning an AAS degree in Applied Science. I am a former senior technologist with International Paper where I spent nearly 28 years providing technical service and support in a research and development environment. I am currently a member of the Warwick Republican Committee, Orange County Republican Committee and a N.Y. State commissioned Notary Public. I decided to seek the nomination from the Republican Committee after a colleague proposed the idea to me and asked that I consider it. My grandfather, Thomas F. Lawrence, served as town clerk for two terms during World War II so it is also a matter of pride for me to be able to follow in his footsteps. During my career I have had the opportunity to develop skills pertinent to this position. Because of my extensive experience in technical service, I have excellent customer focus. I also possess good organizational and interpersonal skills and am computer literate. I am approachable, compassionate, have the ability to listen and advise and am receptive to new ideas. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated that I am reliable, trustworthy and can meet critical deadlines. A “new set of eyes” in the workplace is often beneficial to help identify barriers and to set up steps to improve a process. I have that kind of experience and will utilize this knowledge, if elected, to enhance the excellent service already provided by the town clerk’s staff. I would also look for opportunities to make the clerk’s office more available to the public. Denise Bulnes, Democratic candidate My family has lived in the Warwick community for almost give years. My husband, CJ, is a deputy sheriff and a volunteer for the Warwick Ambulance, Warwick Little League, Lions Club and the American Red Cross. We have been married for 21 years and are blessed with two children. We have a daughter, Jasmin, who is a Lions Club Leo, and a son, Juan, who suffers from a disability. I am an animal lover who happily shares her home with five pets. I am a certified assistant accountant and attended Lehman College. I am also a Notary Public. Currently, I work as the internal auditor for Orange Ulster BOCES and the office manager/bookkeeper for Hagopian Enterprises. I have more than 20 years of business experience in accounting, budget analysis and tax practice. I have been a Lions Club member for 15 years. I am currently the Warwick Lions Club treasurer. I am a member of the Kings Estates/Sugar Hills Recreation Advisory Committee, a board member of the Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County and a member of the Town of Warwick Democratic Committee. I have a strong belief in giving back to my community and I value public service. My auditing experience, proven organizational skills and exceptional work ethic make me the best candidate for this office. I work well with others and encourage team involvement. I am a proven team leader. In the next four years, we need to maintain that character of Warwick that makes it a great place to live, work and raise families. Equally important is how to keep taxes in line while continuing to provide a high level of service to an expanding population. I feel the salary for Town Clerk is too high. If elected, I will donate $9,500 to the town’s parks and recreation fund. I have a lot of ideas, energy and enthusiasm and I look forward to serving the people of Warwick.
