Warwick — Ginny K. Rizzo of Warwick has been named by the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County as one of eight 2010 Tribute to Women of Achievement honorees. Now in its 18th year, the Tribute awards honor women in Orange County who have made a difference to the community in their professional, personal or school-based activities. Donna Cornell, Tribute chairperson, along with selection committee co-chairs Donna Benson and Debbie Bogdanski, announced the names of the honorees at the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy. The location was specially chosen because of two 2010 honorees strong ties to the Newburgh-based school for girls. In addition to Rizzo, the honorees are: Arts - Taryn Grimes-Herbert of Washingtonville; Health Care & Human Services - Tricia Haggerty-Wenz of Cornwall; Public Service - Alice Dickinson of Pine Bush; Education - Sr. Yliana Hernandez, PBVM, of Newburgh; Woman of the Future - Amanda Rougier of Walden; and The Bobbie A. Lahey Memorial Award for Volunteer Services - Daisy Vale of Newburgh and Judy Yannantuono-Parsells of Pine Bush. Nearly 180 women from throughout Orange County have been recognized since the award’s inception. This year’s tribute dinner will be held on May 12 at Anthony’s Pier 9.
