Warwick Police arrest suspect in Pine Island armed bank robbery
WARWICK - On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 2:25 p.m. the Warwick Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Bank of America branch located at 671 Orange County Route 1 in the hamlet of Pine Island. A subsequent investigation by the Warwick Police department and members of the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad (VFW) and the Bureau of Criminal investigation have resulted in a quick arrest. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, in less than two weeks, the Warwick Police charged Keith E. Marma, 27, with no known address, with first-degree robbery, a felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, also a felony. Marma’s vehicle was spotted in the Howard Johnson Motel parking lot in the Town of Wallkill by members of the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant squad (VFW). Police recovered clothing worn by Marma during the robbery and also some of the proceeds of the robbery. Marma was held at the Warwick Police Department pending arraignment later that evening in the Village of Warwick. “This is a wonderful example of great police work,” stated Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton. “They are all to be congratulated and they deserve our praise and gratitude.”
