Warwick — An argument ended in death Tuesday night at the corner of McEwen and Spring streets as Dwayne E. Brooks, 31, of Warwick, allegedly stabbed a Middletown man to death. Police said they were called to a disturbance at McEwen Street around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night. They found Michael D. Bristow, 30, of Middletown unconscious in a snow bank across the street from Freddie’s, a local restaurant. Bristow had one stab wound to his chest. Warwick Volunteer Ambulance treated him at the scene and took him to St. Anthony Community Hospital, where he died. “There were lots of lights but no noise really,” said one neighborhood resident, who did not wish to give her name. The lights were flashing for quite a while, she said, as she looked out several times Tuesday night. The next morning, she and her husband learned about the killing. According to News12 Hudson Valley, the two men knew each other and had been drinking together in an apartment above the restaurant, where Brooks lived with his pregnant girlfriend. The girlfriend had a previous relationship with Bristow. The men argued, Brooks stabbed Bristow, and then fled. After an investigation by State Police, the District Attorney’s office and Warwick police, he apparently turned himself into authorities and was arraigned in Village of Warwick court by Justice Richard Farina. He is charged with second-degree murder and is in Orange County jail with no bail set.
