WARWICK-Dreams do come true. On Saturday, June 19, Warwick Valley High School graduate Elaine Zaveckas, the daughter of Ken and Grace Zaveckas of Warwick, became the lucky winner of "Dare to Dream," a contest sponsored by Country Chevrolet Oldsmoble. After a random drawing by Mayor Michael Newhard, her name was announced and Frank Petrucci, president of the Warwick automobile dealership, handed the young lady the keys to a brand new 2004 Chevy Aveo. "I want to congratulate Elaine," said Petrucci. "She is a well deserving student and we are proud to help her begin her journey into adulthood as she takes her first steps toward achieving her dreams and goals." Early in April, Country Chevrolet Oldsmobile invited all the seniors in this area, who were about to graduate from any high school, to visit the dealership and register to win the new car. The only requirement was that the student graduate on time. Those seniors who were not 18 or older could assign their registration to a parent or guardian. Over 200 students from the surrounding area registered. Elaine Zaveckas not only graduated on time but she is a member of the National Honor Society and had earned an outstanding academic and athletic record at Warwick Valley High School. This fall she will enter the freshman class at Seton Hill University, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Zaveckas plans to major in Actuarial Science. "We sponsor this contest not only for its promotional value," said Petrucci, "but we hope it will encourage kids, especially those on the fence, to work hard and graduate.
