TUXEDO — Tuxedo Park School honored Warwick resident Sarah Laico with both the Headmaster’s Cup and the G.M. Dalls Peltz Memorial Trophy at her eighth grade graduation from the school. The awards show that Laico ”has been an exemplary student and leader at the school,” according to both the student body as well as the administration. Headmaster Jim Burger awards the Headmaster’s Cup to the graduating student who exhibits “sustained effort during the school year in studies and outside activities.” The G.M. Dallas Peltz Memorial Trophy is “awarded to the student who, by the vote of his or her fellow students, has best exemplified leadership and sportsmanship.” Laico’s name will be engraved on both silver cups on display in the school’s trophy case. Laico proved both her scholarship and leadership this year in academics, sports, and the arts. In sports, she served as the captain of the field hockey team, Most Valuable Player on the basketball team, and received the Track and Field Team Coaches’ award. She performed as the Cat in the Hat in school musical, Sessical Jr., and she won the school’s Spanish Award for outstanding effort and achievement in Spanish and the Latin Award for her achievements in Latin. Additionally, Laico attained high effort honors as well as high academic honors every semester this year. She will return for the freshman year at the school in the fall and has been elected the 2011-2012 Gold Team captain in the school’s annual Green and Gold competition.
