Warwick firefighters answered 40 calls for help during May

    Warwick - Members of the Warwick Fire Department responded to 40 calls during May, including nine motor vehicle accidents, according to the monthly report provided by Captain Michael Contaxis and firefighter Kevin Columba. Since the beginning of the year, Warwick firefighters have answered 200 calls for assistance. Here’s a breakdown for the 40 calls during May: Automatic alarm: 20 Motor vehicle accidents: 9 Mutual aid: 3 Carbon monoxide alarm: 2 Wires down and burning: 1 Transformer fire: 1 Vehicle fire: 1 Structure fire: 1 Propane gas leak: 1 Other: 1 Public Meetings/ Events District Meeting will be held Tuesday, July 19, at 8 p.m. at Station #1, 25 Church St. (located near the Colonial Avenue end of Forester Avenue). The Warwick Fire Department’s annual four-day carnival began Wednesday, June 22, at Veterans Memorial Park in Village of Warwick, and will continue through a fireworks display on Saturday, June 25, at 10 p.m. Here’s the remaining schedule: Friday, June 24, 6 to 11 p.m. Emergency Services Night. $15 will cover all rides for any individual wearing an article of clothing with a fire, police, or EMS emblem or logo on it. Saturday, June 25, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Wristband Night. $20 will cover all rides during the course of the entire evening. Fireworks at 10 p.m.
