Warwick EMS and firefighters rescue construction worker rescued from roof

A worker accidentally shot himself in the leg with a nail gun while installing a roof Nov. 16 on a house at Covered Bridge Road. A 1½” roofing nail penetrated the man’s thigh. The Warwick Ambulance Corps was summoned and subsequently requested the Warwick Fire Department for assistance with removing the worker from the roof. Warwick EMS Captain Frank Cassanite climbed to the roof to treat and stabilize the man’s wound. Warwick firefighters raised their tower ladder to the roof, strapped the victim into a rescue basket and lowered him to a waiting ambulance. According to EMTs on scene, the injury did not appear to be life-threatening. (Photos by Thom Cronin)
