WARWICK - On Thursday evening, March 30, residents and their families, friends, co-workers and neighbors headed out to any one of a number of participating restaurants for an evening of fine food, fun and community good-will as part of the “Great Warwick Wine & Dine.” The evening was one of a number of scheduled events for the St. Anthony Community Hospital 2006 Annual Fund Drive to benefit the Warwick Healthcare Campus which also includes Schervier Pavilion and Mt. Alverno Center. The idea was simple. No tickets or reservations were required. All the participants had to do was visit a participating restaurant and enjoy dinner with their friends and family. The restaurants would then donate a percentage of all dinner proceeds to benefit the expansion of the St. Anthony Community Hospital Emergency Department. The event raised about $5,000, according to early estimates from the hospital staff. The expansion is part of a larger $9 million modernization project to improve the hospital’s facility and add additional services to benefit the entire community. Participating restaurants included Breezy Point and Graziella’s Italian Café in Greenwood Lake; The Copper Bottom in Florida; and Backyard Grill and Café, Freddie’s Pub & Restaurant, G’s Restaurant & Bank Street Tavern, Halligan’s Public House, Harpoon Bay Restaurant, Italian Villa, Landmark Inn, Tokyo Plum House, Village Grille & Pub and Yesterday’s Fine Food & Spirits in Warwick. “We are grateful to the restaurant owners and to all the people who participated in this event,” said Leah Cerkvenik, executive vice president/administrator of St. Anthony Community Hospital. “Throughout the years, the business owners and citizens of this wonderful community have continued to demonstrate their generosity and strong support for our hospital.”
