Warwick book publisher joins initiative to save trees
Warwick Keene Publishing, home of Moo Press children’s books, has joined the Green Press Initiative, an organization working with publishers, authors, printers and paper mills to reduce the environmental impact of the publishing industry. “Our publishing platform has always been to sustain life, to illuminate lives one book at a time,” said Keene president and founder Diane Tinney. “What better way to sustain life than properly manage our use of paper products and the impact that has on nature while we do that. It’s just the responsible thing to do.” Tinney estimated that over the next three to five years, the company’s Green Press policy will save more than 100 mature trees, the equivalent of the total energy used for six homes in one year and of greenhouse gases from six cars driven for a year (based on research done by the Paper Task Force). Keene Publishing/Moo Press joins 60 other book publishers and more than 200 authors such as Philip Pullman in a movement toward preserving ancient forests. An independent publisher of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, Keene will release six new books this year, three under the Moo Press children’s imprint. Keene Publishing/Moo Press is distributed by Biblio, a division of National Book Network in the United States. Keene also is a state-certified, woman-owned business.
