    Overview for the week of Sept. 17 to Sept. 23 Warwick - The week was important for all of our teams as we are entered league contests. In observance of Yom Kippur there were no scheduled games or matches on Friday Sept. 21. Warwick Telephone Enhances Cross Country Course The Warwick Cross Country Team had a need and the Warwick Telephone Company came through. The areas best long distance runners needed help from the areas best long-distance telephone carriers. The Wildcats needed a way to distinguish their finish line on the cross-country course and the telephone company donated and set up two telephone poles to mark the finish line and thus enhance the top cross-country course in the area. Special thanks to Kevin Schoffield and Mark Digullio for their time and effort. Football The varsity football team improved its record to 2 n 1 with a sound victory over their first league opponent, FDR (Hyde Park). Boys’ Cross Country The boys’ cross-country team kept the streak of unbeaten dual meets alive, defeating Washingtonville on Tuesday. The Wildcat’s hosted a home meet against Chapel Field on Tuesday, Sept. 18, before traveling to Orlando, Fla. to take on the nation’s best in the Edgewater Invitational. The trip was fully funded by the team and members paid their own way to challenge the nations best. Girls’ Cross Country The girls’ cross-country team defeated Washingtonville last week and won the Suffern Invitational on Saturday. Tori Pennings and Lillian Greibesland ran even pace to win the event at 18:02. The lady cats will travel to the Pepperdine Invitational in California where they will take on some of the top teams in the nation, including Monsignor Donovan (number 2 in New Jersey) and six of the top 10 teams in the state of California. All the money for the trip has been raised privately. Boys’ Soccer The Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team began league play with a 1-0 victory over Minisink. John Moore’s diving save late in the second half secured the win. The boys’ soccer team played at Cornwall on Monday before returning home on Wednesday against Valley Central. Girls’ Soccer The girls varsity soccer team defeated Kingston 2-0 in overtime. Jenna Maisto scored the first goal in overtime and freshman sensation Jillian Farrell secured the win with an acrobatic score late in the overtime period. Sophomore reserve goalie Liza Gergenti stepped in for the injured Emily Shields to secure the victory. Girls’ Swimming and Diving The girls’ swimming and diving team secured their first league victory over conference opponent Minisink. The girls put together a dominant performance, including first place victories on all the relay teams. Jean Murphy and Casey Abribat lead the way with victories in their individual events. Girls’ Tennis The Girls Varsity Tennis Team is 2 -1 overall, with victories over Monticello and Burke Catholic. The Wildcats await the return of Christine Krazinski to the singles lineup. Caroline Zielinski, Tessa Imbrie, Kimberlyn Fernez, Lindsay Theodore and Grace Caskey have done an outstanding job in the singles positions. Girls’ Volleyball The Lady Cats had a dominating victory over Middletown this past week.
