Warwick Art League to celebrate 50 years of exhibiting local talent

    Middletown-Two new art exhibits will be on view at the Orange Hall Galleries from July 11 to August 6. The Warwick Art League's 50th Annual Exhibition will be shown in the Orange Hall Gallery, and paintings in watercolor, pastel, oil, mixed media by Winnie O'Dougherty, Joan Ross, and Susan Fogel Morris will be displayed in Orange Hall Gallery Loft. Both galleries are located on the campus of Orange County Community College in Middletown. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and during performances in Orange Hall Theater. The opening reception for both exhibits will be held on Sunday, July 11, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Pianist Valentina Ponochovnaya of Monroe will play contemporary music starting at 3 p.m. During the first hour of the reception, Joan Ross of Highland Lakes, N.J., will give a demonstration entitled "Organizing and Designing a Painting while Exploring the Adventure of the Spontaneous Nature of Watercolor." The Warwick Art League will show works in several media, including watercolor, oil, pastel, and photography. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. Prior to the opening reception, the artworks will be judged by Raymond Steiner, editor of Art Times. In addition, three of its members, O'Dougherty, Ross, and Morris, will be exhibiting many of their works in a separate show in the Loft. Orange Hall Galleries are located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues. These Lyceum art events are presented by Cultural Affairs at Orange County Community College.
