WARWICK - Thanks to the members of the Warwick Art League, patients in the new Center for Ambulatory Services Wing at St. Anthony Community Hospital will not have to stare at bare walls. “We thought patients arriving for a same day procedure would feel much better if they could enjoy a beautiful work of art,” said Lisa Zukowski, president of the Warwick Art League. “And we also wanted to perform a good community service.” Recently, members of the League hung their original works of art throughout the modern facility. The artwork is also for sale and will be periodically replaced. A percentage of any item sold will be donated to St. Anthony Community Hospital. The Warwick Art League, founded in 1955, is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization sponsored by membership and dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and encouraging artists within the community. As part of its modernization and expansion program, St. Anthony Community Hospital, a member of Bon Secours Charity Health System, recently doubled the size of its emergency department by adding a one-story patient care unit to the eastern end of the hospital. The purpose of the project was to accommodate the growth of the community as well as new developments in health care to provide continued quality and expanded services.
